WHAT WE’VE DONE SO FAR

Taking Care of our Trails Today.

We know exactly what we have.

Completed in 2019, the Trails Inventory Project brought together collective community knowledge of existing trails to document trails and trail access in the City of Corona.

Three community workshops were held on July 4, 2018, August 13, 2018 and February 7, 2019. A workshop just for cyclists was also  held on March 21, 2019.

We’ve taken the first step toward becoming the gateway to trails.

Community workshops were held on Tuesday, February 25th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Circle City Center and on Thursday, April 29th, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Corona Public Library. Click here to watch meeting recording.

Community members were invited to fill out a Trails Master Plan Community Survey. To view the results of the survey, click here.

The Trails Master Plan – Phase I document was adopted by the Corona City Council on September 15, 2021. The Phase I document will be used as a strategic planning document that identifies current trails and potential future connectivity, defines multi-modal access to open space and identifies opportunities for future trail enhancement and connectivity to ensure continued access to trails and open space while still providing for future development that benefits the community. All of these efforts will help to establish Corona as a regional hub for high-quality, active living.

Corona Trails Master Plan – Phase I Presentation to the Parks and Recreation Commission (August 2, 2021)

Trails Master Plan Phase II

Preparation of the Trails Master Plan began in January 2021 with a multi-faceted process that included a thorough review of previous planning documents, inventory and analysis of existing trails and access routes, extensive community engagement and stakeholder outreach, analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the City’s trails system. Extensive community and stakeholder engagement was conducted in person and online, and a Trails Working Group was created consisting of a group of passionate Corona trail users. Several Trails Working group meetings were held with various agencies, and the Park and Recreation Commission was regularly updated. It was recommended for approval by the Park and Recreation Commission on January 9, 2024 and approved by the City Council on February 21, 2024.
